Campus Life

Embracing variety

To be diverse is to embrace variety – variety in backgrounds, variety in beliefs, and variety in thinking. Diversity is at the core of everything we do at UW-Eau Claire. It's taught through our liberal arts curriculum and it is woven into the fabric of our campus through community and culture.

We promise to prepare you to be a confident citizen of the world through the diverse experiences you'll have here. Blugolds have opportunities to interact with, learn from and befriend people from different communities and cultures, both on campus and around the world. These life-changing interactions give our graduates a distinct viewpoint that serves them well as citizens of a global society.

Living Learning Communities

If you want to take your passion for learning about global and international perspectives outside of class, you can surround yourself with Blugolds who have those same global goals. Find out more about our unique Living Learning Communities at UWEC.

See all of the communities

Blugolds possess an open mind and can interact well with those from diverse backgrounds no matter how different they may be from one another. Blugolds form strong connections within the university – not only with students, but with faculty and other staff. To be a Blugold is to be a part of a community that is always warm and welcoming.

Bringing the world to you

We call it the "internationalizing" of UW-Eau Claire. It's a big word that simply means our campus community offers many paths to help you embrace diversity across the globe and right outside your door. Since success in our world requires a global mindset, you have the opportunity to experience different ways of thinking and living through campus events like The Artists Series & The Forum, International Folk Fair, and our very own Eau Queer Film Festival - just to name a few.

Of course, there's also nothing like really getting out of your comfort zone by taking a cultural immersion trip to help you change your perspective. Your options are many and varied, from semester-long courses to one- or two-week trips that envelop you in diverse culture, food, music, and relationships that will forever broaden your horizons.
