UW-System Administration has mandated that UW-Eau Claire begin using the UW-System Shared Financial System – PeopleSoft (SFS) on July 1, 2007. By the end of 2007, all UW campuses will be using the same financial system.
The conversion to PeopleSoft will mean some significant changes for UW-Eau Claire campus financial system users. The current Bridge financial pages will no longer be available. Instead, a web-based tool called WISDM (Wisconsin Data Mart) will be used to access FY2008 financial information. Prior year's financial information will be available on the Blugold Insider, along with detailed chargeback information.
PeopleSoft uses different terminology then our current system. Translations are:
Legacy/Bridge = PeopleSoft(SFS)
Appropriation = Fund
IBAC/Activity Code = Program
DDS or UDDS = DeptID
Account = will no longer exist
Class Code = Account
The local account number will no longer exist, PeopleSoft does not use this kind of account number. Instead, a funding string replaces the local account numbers. For example, the current local account number for Business Services is 223 – in PeopleSoft that number becomes 102-01-024001. The PeopleSoft funding string consists of 3 items – the first portion of the funding string is the Fund, the second item is the program and last item is called the DeptID.
Business Services staff is currently receiving training on the use of PeopleSoft and WISDM – this training may cause some minimal delays in transaction processing such as check preparation, expense transfers, etc. Closer to the system go-live date of July 1, 2007, training will become generally available for other campus financial system users.
