
Beta Alpha Psi
Hours System
Beta Alpha Psi maintains an Hours system for all chapters. This Hours system
requires all chapters to perform different activities to remain in good
standing. All members are required to perform 20 hours of
work under the Beta Alpha Psi name. These consist of Professional and
Service Hours.
Pledge Requirements:
- Minimum 5 hours of BAP-sponsored professional activity
- Minimum 5 hours of BAP-sponsored service activity
- Minimum grand total of 15 BAP-sponsored hours (5 hours from either category)
Professional Activity
Any event where there is a professional speaker or social activities with professionals attending.
Examples of ways to complete these hours:
- Student Accounting Society/Beta Alpha Psi general meetings
- Accounting Seminar
- Accounting Professionals Dinner
- Speaking at a high school to promote the profession/major on behalf of BAP
- Interviews (including mock interviews)
- Career Conference/Internship Mania (any career fair)
Service Activity
Any service provided to the community or the campus during the semester.
Examples of ways to complete these hours:
- Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program (VITA)
- Accounting Lab Tutor
- Personal tutor for any student, including CVTC students
- Financial Literacy Intervention Program (FLIP)
- Special Olympics
- Habitat for Humanity
- Blood drive
- Relay for Life
