WOMEN’S TRACK AND FIELD SITS IN FOURTH AFTER DAY ONE
WHITEWATER – With 19 points, the UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team ranks fourth after day one of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Indoor Championships, hosted by UW-Whitewater. UW-La Crosse leads with 69 points. UW-Oshkosh is in second with 37 while UW-River Falls sits a spot in front of the Blugolds at 29 points. Eau Claire represented well in the 5000-meter run. Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) had a provisional qualifying 17:44.11 race that took third place and six points. Molly Warner (Jr.-Mosinee) was right behind her in standings and points as she clocked in at 17:57.66. Jessica Owens (So.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) leapt 1.62 meters (5’ 3 ¾”) for third in the high jump. The accomplishment grabbed six Blugold points. Alicia Schuelke (So.-Gilman) took home one point as she had a 1.52 meter (4’ 11 ¾”) mark for eighth. The distance medley relay group took eighth for one point on a 12:52.61 effort. The championships will wrap up tomorrow in Whitewater. Action starts at 9 a.m. with awards coming at 5 p.m. Day One Results- PH -
