WOMEN’S TRACK OPENS SEASON AT BADGER TRACK CLASSIC
MADISON – The UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team kicked off the 2007 indoor season competing at the Badger Track Classic hosted here today on the UW-Madison campus. Shalene Huth (Sr.-Appleton/West) and Kjersten Holt (Jr.-Long Prairie, MN/LP Grey Eagle) each advanced to the finals of the 60-meter dash. Huth finished seventh with a time of 8.18 seconds while Holt finished eighth in 8.52. Christina Locke (Sr.-Racine/Horlick) placed eighth out of 19 runners in the one-mile run clocking in at 5:17.56. Liz Faller (Sr.-Marinette) advanced to and won the 60-meter hurdles crossing the finish line in 9.40 seconds. Two Blugolds placed in the top four of the pole vault led by Chelsea Becker (Sr.-Rice Lake) who finished second clearing 11-8. Stephanie Barnes (Sr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) placed fourth as she cleared 11-2.25. Paula Crossfield (Sr.-Madison/East) was the top Blugold finisher in the throwing events. Crossfield finished fourth in the weight throw with a toss of 47-11 and fifth in the shot put with a distance of 37-10. Up next the Blugolds return home where they will host the Blugold Open on Friday, January 19. Events are scheduled to start at 4:00 P.M. Final Results
