WOMEN'S TENNIS DOUBLES TEAM JUST MISSES CONSOLATION TITLE

ST. PETER, MN - The doubles duo of Laura Geissler (Jr.-Coon Rapids, MN) and Katie Kuzma (Sr.-Buffalo, MN) for the UW-Eau Claire women's tennis team fell just short of capturing the consolation title today at the ITA Midwest Regional Tournament held at Gustavus Adolphus.

Geissler and Kuzma advanced all the way to the championship match in the consolation bracket of the ITA doubles flight, where they lost in a close match to Wheaton College 9-8 (9-7).

The duo defeated the doubles team from Macalester 8-5 in the first round of the consolation bracket. In the quarterfinals, they went up against Luther College and won by a margin of 8-5. They then defeated St. Catherine 8-3 in the semi-finals.

Up next the Blugolds will host conference opponent UW-La Crosse Saturday (Oct. 1) with the action beginning at 9 A.M.
