2008-09 WRESTLING RECRUITS ANNOUNCED

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Head wrestling coach Don Parker has announced the names of 12 student-athletes who will continue their academic and athletic careers at UW-Eau Claire.

The group includes eight incoming freshman and four transfer students.

John Schoen (Neillsville, Wis.) finished as the runner-up at the WIAA Division II State Championship at 189 pounds. He will wrestle at 197 pounds for the Blugolds. Ricky Gonzales, a recruit from South Carolina, finished third in the state at 171 pounds and had a season record of 44-8. Will Christ (Shell Lake, Wis.) also competed in the WIAA Division III State Championship and took fifth place at 140 pounds twice.

Four other recruits also participated at state. Zack Weisenberger (Ladysmith, Wis.) and Jon Millen (Pine Island, Minn.) were two-time state qualifiers while Keith Dawson (Neillsville, Wis.) and Jordan Davis (Blaine, Minn.) each qualified once.

Other recruits include two-time conference champion Walter Taylor (Shakopee, Minn.), Brian Reier (Stillwater, Minn.), Craig Eckelberg (Tomah, Wis.), Levi Polus (Winona, Minn.) and Bruce Yang (Rothschild, Wis./D.C. Everest). Reier, Eckelberg, Millen and Davis are all transfer students.
