VALIQUETTE NAMED ALL-AMERICAN SCHOLAR

UW-Eau Claire senior wrestler Lance Valiquette (Auburn, WA) has been named to the NCAA Division III All-American Scholar Wrestling Team.

The award is presented by the NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Association.

Only wrestlers who qualify for the NCAA national tournament and possess a 3.00 or higher cumulative GPA are eligible for the honor.

Valiquette was the lone Blugold wrestler to compete in the NCAA tournament last weekend. The 165-pounder lost both of his matches by 9-6 decisions and finished the season with a 30-13 record. The Blugold team captain was the conference runner-up at his weight class. He finished his three-year Blugold career with a 69-44 record.

Valiquette, who is 28 years old and has served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard, owns a 3.43 grade point average and will graduate this May with a degree in Kinesiology-Movement Studies. Once graduated, Valiquette will begin work for Universal Forest Products in Janesville.
