BLUGOLD WRESTLERS TO HOST EAGLES

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire wrestling team will host 7th-ranked Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference opponent UW-La Crosse Wednesday at the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center.

The Blugolds come into the dual meet with an 11-12 overall record and a 1-2 dual meet record in WIAC action. Eau Claire lost to Lawrence University 26-15 in their latest meet.

Derek Sikora (So.-Neillsville) and Nick Campbell (Sr.-Eden Prairie, MN/Maple Grove) each come into the meet riding a six-match winning streak. Each wrestler went 4-0 at the Terry Haws Dual Tournament and each earned wins over UW-Platteville and Lawrence.

The 14-5 Eagles boast nationally ranked wrestlers in four weight classes. Heavyweight Ryan Allen is the top-ranked wrestler in his class with a 23-2 record while Jason Lulloff is second in the nation at 184 pounds with a record of 23-2 as well.

Troy Fabry is ranked third in the nation at 149 pounds with a 22-2 record and Jim Swanson is sixth in the nation at 197 pounds with a record of 18-6.

The meet against La Crosse will also serve as Youth Night. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
