WOMEN'S HOCKEY TO HOST PAIR AGAINST RIVER FALLS

EAU CLAIRE - The 1-3 UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team faces UW-River Falls this Friday and Saturday at Hobbs Ice Arena, marking the second straight home weekend for the Blugolds.

Eau Claire got off to a good start this season with a 2-1 win over Bethel College in its first game, but then dropped three straight. The Blugolds were defeated by St. Mary's 5-1 and then St. Olaf took both games last weekend by a 4-2 score in each game.

Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) is the points leader for Eau Claire with five. The points come on three goals and two assists. Tara Hayner (Jr.-Stillwater, MN) and Martina Korinek (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) are tied for second with two points each. Hayner's came on a goal and an assists while Korinek's came on two assists.

Goalie Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has made 70 saves compared to 12 goals allowed, making for a .854 save percentage.

The Falcons are 2-1-1. The team won its first game as well, beating Gustavus Adolphus 3-1. It then beat Augsburg 2-1 before getting beat 5-2 by St. Thomas. In the latest game, River Falls also played Bethel, but came out with a 2-2 tie.

The Blugolds have had trouble with the Falcons in the past. The all-time record against them is 3-15-3, though two of the victories came in last year's season.

Both games will begin at 7:00 p.m.
