WOMEN'S HOCKEY LOSES TO ST. OLAF AGAIN BY IDENTICAL SCORE

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team lost 4-2 tonight on Parents Night against St. Olaf College at Hobbs Ice Center.

The Oles scored early on a power-play goal 3:03 into the first period. Tara Hayner (Jr.-Stillwater, MN) tied the game up at 17:41 into the first on a power-play goal. Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) contributed with an assist. The Oles only managed two shots on goal in the period.

Eau Claire went ahead 5:09 into the middle period when Katie Vannelli (So.-Eagan, MN) scored a power-play goal. Assists came from Kelly Ivey (So.-Apple Valley, MN) and Havard. At 7:53 St. Olaf tied the game up again with an evenhanded goal and then went ahead 12:20 into the period on a power-play goal.

The final score came in the final period. At 1:22 the Oles notched an evenhanded goal to make it 4-2 for a second straight night.

Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) made 20 saves while her counterpart made 34. The Blugolds made 36 shots on goal to the 24 of St. Olaf. Each team had three advantages and each team capitalized twice.

The women's hockey team is now 1-3-0.

The team next plays on Friday against UW-River Falls. It takes place at 7:00 p.m. in Hobbs Ice Center.
