LAST HOME APPEARANCE SATURDAY FOR WOMEN'S HOCKEY

EAU CLAIRE - All home games for the UW-Eau Claire women's hockey team will be complete after Saturday's contest against UW-Stevens Point.

The Blugolds stand at 0-7-4 in Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) play this year and have a 6-11-4 record in all games. The team is fifth in the NCHA, one point above Finlandia. The Pointers, meanwhile, are tied for second in the NCHA standings. Both the Pointers and the UW-River Falls Falcons have 14 points. UW-Superior has 16 points. Stevens Point has a 6-1-2 NCHA record and a 12-4-3 overall mark. The Pointers are ranked sixth on the USCHO.com Division III poll.

This game will be the third of five NCHA games to end the season. Eau Claire lost 5-1 to the Falcons Saturday for the first of the five and the second one is in Stevens Point this Friday. Before the River Falls contest, the team had a three-game homestand that began with ties against Superior and Finlandia and finished with a victory over the College of St. Catherine.

The NCHA Player of the Week, Amanda Schultz (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH), has been on a tear, scoring four goals last weekend including a hat trick on Friday. Schultz had missed eight games due to her knee, but has come back to garner 15 points on 11 goals and four assists.

The Blugold points leader, however, is Lauren Havard (Fr.-San Angelo, TX/Arapahoe) with 22. She has split them evenly with 11 goals and 11 assists. The eight goals and 10 assists by Martina Korinek (Jr.-White Bear Lake, MN) make for the team's second-best 18 points.

Jill Arendt (So.-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has 403 saves and a .898 save percentage. An average of 2.80 goals score per game when Arendt plays.

The Pointers are on a roll, having won six straight. The streak has helped the team move up in the NCHA as the first four were NCHA matchups. Eau Claire had a tough time against the Pointers on January 21st in a 6-1 loss. The Blugolds allowed two shorthanded goals in that game, which was Arendt's first after coming back from a kidney injury.

Points leader Nicole Grossman scored two goals in that Pointer victory and has collected 11 goals in all this season. She also has five assists to make for 16 points. Kim Lunneborg has 15 points off of eight goals and seven assists.

The puck drops at 7:00 p.m. in Hobbs Ice Center on Saturday.
