WARTBURG LEADS AT UWEC FALL INVITE

EAU CLAIRE – After day one of the UW-Eau Claire Fall Invite at Mill Run Golf Course, Wartburg College leads, but three other teams from the 18-team field are within five strokes.

Wartburg College shot a 323, while St. Thomas is in second place, shooting a 326. Rounding out the top five teams are Gustavus Adolphus (327), UW-Stevens Point (328) and UW-Whitewater (334). The Blugolds are currently in a three-way tie for seventh place with a 347. Last spring at the NCAA Division III National Championship, Gustavus finished second, Wartburg finished fourth and UW-Eau Claire finished fifth.

UW-Eau Claire’s Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, WI) currently leads the field, shooting a 38 on the front nine and a 36 on the back nine for a total of 74 on the par 72 course. Katrina Wood of Carleton and Jordan Matheson of Macalester are currently tied for second place, shooting a 76.

Four other Blugold golfers are at the meet. Torie Ives (So.-Osseo, WI/Osseo-Fairchild) is tied for 18th place with an 83 while Brianna Obermueller (So.-River Falls, WI) shot a 94 and is tied for 71st place. Jordan Damrow (Fr.-Oconomowoc, WI) is tied for 79th place, shooting a 96 and Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, WI) shot a 98 and is tied for 85th place.

The final day of the meet is set for Sunday and the golfers will tee off at 8 am at Wild Ridge Golf Course in Eau Claire.
