WOMEN’S GOLF STARTS OFF SPRING IN SECOND
WAVERLY, Iowa – After the first day of the Wartburg Spring Invitational, the UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team sits second at 335 strokes. Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) leads with a 329 score while Illinois Wesleyan University ranks behind the Blugolds on a 337 total. Host team Wartburg College has 353 for fourth while Franklin College (Ind.) rounds out the top five at 361. There are 11 teams in the invite. Meghan Sobotta (Sr.-Arcadia, Wis.) picked up where she left off by pacing the field on a 75 score. Her last competition was the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Championship, which she took first in. Torie Ives (So.-Osseo, Wis./Osseo-Fairchild) is in a tie for second with 80. Bri Obermueller (So.-River Falls, Wis.) and Katie Swift (Fr.-Onalaska, Wis.) are the remaining point-gainers with 87 and 93 strokes respectively. Obermueller is tied for 17th while Swift is tied for 34th. The team’s first competition of the season will conclude tomorrow in Waverly.
