FOUR BLUGOLDS NAMED TO THE ALL-WIAC WOMEN’S GOLF TEAM
MADISON – Four members of the UW-Eau Claire women’s golf team have been named to the All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) team, it was announced recently by conference sports information director Matt Stanek. Meghan Sobotta (Jr.-Arcadia) earned first team honors for the third consecutive season. Sobotta lead the Blugolds with an 80.5 stroke average. Sobotta captured medalist honors at the UW-Eau Claire Invitational, finished third at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational and fifth at the WIAC Championships. Last season Sobotta was a second team All-American. Jesse Thompson (Sr.-Stevens Point/SPASH) joins Sobotta as a three-time first team All-WIAC selection. Thompson averaged an 80.9 stroke average and earned medalist honors at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational. Thompson finished fourth at the WIAC Championships. Torie Ives (Fr.-Osseo/Osseo-Fairchild) earned first team honors in her first year with the Blugolds. Ives produced a stroke average of 82.2 during the fall season and won medalist honors at the WIAC Championships on the first hole of a sudden death playoff after tying WIAC Player of the Year Jennifer Young at the end of 36 holes. Kate Borman (Fr.-Kenosha/Bradford) was named to second team All-WIAC. Borman placed fourth at the UW-Stevens Point Invitational and finished tied for 16th place at the WIAC Championships.
