WOMEN'S GOLF IN EIGHTH AFTER FIRST DAY OF HOME INVITE

EAU CLAIRE -- UW-Eau Claire finds itself in the middle of the pack after the first day at Mill Run Golf Course. With 17 schools competing, Illinois Wesleyan is on top with a score of 322 and 30 over par. Eau Claire is behind the leader by 23 strokes while shooting 53 strokes over par from their eighth place position.

The Blugolds are only one stroke back of IWU and two strokes behind UW-Stevens Point. In the top five, behind Illinois Wesleyan, are University of St. Thomas, UW-Oshkosh, Gustavus Adolphus and Loras College.

On the individual side, Maggie Loney (Sr.-River Falls) leads all golfers with a 76 score, good for 3 over par at Mill Run. Loney shot four over par at 41 in the first nine, but golfed a one under par back nine to put her in the first-place spot. Also for the Blugolds, Meghan Sobotta (So.-Arcadia) shot an 84 and is currently tied for 28th. Jessica Thompson (Jr.-Plover/SPASH) finds herself 2 strokes behind Sobota with an 86, tying her for 38th overall.

Eau Claire returns tomorrow at 8 a.m. to golf the Wild Ridge course and finish up the two day invite.
