WOMEN'S GOLF CLAIMS THIRD AT UWEC INVITE

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's golf team dropped from second to third during the second and final day of the UWEC Invitational held here today at the Wild Ridge Golf Course.

Gustavus Adolphus shot a 665 on the tournament to claim first place. The Golden Gusties finished five shots ahead of second place St. Thomas. The Blugolds shot a 679 for third place while Illinois Wesleyan grabbed fourth place with a 682.

Blugold Maggie Loney (Jr.-River Falls) took the individual championship, shooting a 75-80-155 to win the tournament. Jennifer Young of UW-Oshkosh took second place with a 159 while Susie Lewis of UW-Stevens Point took third with a 162.

Jesse Thompson (So.-Stevens Point/SPASH) moved from 18th to eighth place for Eau Claire, shooting rounds of 83 and 85 to finish the event with a 168. Meghan Sobotta shot an 82-89-171 to finish tied for 18th place overall.

Andrea Kloppman (Sr.-Eau Claire/Memorial) shot a 186 to claim 49th place at the Blugolds home invitational.

Eau Claire will next be in action this coming Friday when they travel to Galesburg, Illinois to participate in the Knox College Fall Invitational.
