WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY TAKES FIRST IN LONG COURSE

COLFAX - The UW-Eau Claire women's cross country team didn't let the poor weather stop them from taking first place in 5,000 meter course at the Midwest Long and Short Course competition here today.

The Blugolds had three runners finish in the top 10, led by Jane Ovanin's (So.-Amherst) fourth place finish in a time of 19:07.6. Missy Paulson (So.-Whittenberg/Whit-Berg) placed ninth and Melissa Wright (Jr.-Appleton/Kimberly) finished tenth.

Rachel Anderson (Fr.-St. Paul, MN) finished 20th, Alicia Fredricks (So.-Sheboygan/North) 24th, and Nicole Zeug (So.-Shell Lake) 32nd to round out the Blugold scoring.

The Blugolds will travel to Northfield, MN Saturday, October 12 to compete at St. Olaf College. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon.
