WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO HOST UW-LA CROSSE SATURDAY

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will host UW-La Crosse in a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match-up this Saturday night in Zorn Arena.

The game will be the first of a double-header to be held Saturday night as the Blugolds men's team will face La Crosse in the second game.

The Blugold women have a record of 3-3 this season and a WIAC record of 0-1, following a loss to rival and eighth-ranked UW-Stout on Wednesday. The Eagles have an overall record of 6-0 this season and are 1-0 in the WIAC, following a 76-64 victory over UW-Whitewater.

The Blugolds are led by Michelle Burns (So.-Eau Claire, WI/North), who is averaging 12.8 points per game. Freshman Brittanni Hakanson (Fr.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville) is second on the team in scoring, averaging 10.3 points per game. The Blugolds Rachel Mueggenborg (So.-West Salem, WI/Southeast Missouri St.) led the Blugolds in scoring against Stout, putting up 14 points.

The Blugolds as a team have forced 20 more turnovers than they have committed so far this season and are second in the conference in free throw percentage, shooting 70.6% from the line.

The Eagles are led Mackenzie Hunter who is averaging 10.3 points per game. The Eagles are out-rebounding their opponents by an average of almost 11 rebounds per game, which is top in the conference.

The Blugolds split the season series between the two teams last year as both teams won on their home court. The two games were decided by a total of nine points.

The action gets underway at 5 p.m. Saturday night in Zorn Arena.
