WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TO HOST RIVER FALLS WEDNESDAY NIGHT
EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire women's basketball team will try to get some momentum going into the final stretch of the season as it will host UW-River Falls Wednesday night in Zorn Arena. The Blugolds have an overall record of 10-11 this season and have a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) record of 5-7. The Falcons have an overall record of 11-11 and are 7-6 in WIAC play. The Falcons won the previous meeting this season by a score of 72-61. Freshman Brittanni Hakanson (Fr.-Wheeler, WI/Boyceville) is second on the team in scoring this season as she is averaging 10 points per game. She also leads the team in total rebounds this season with 98. Another freshman Heidi Arciszewski (Fr.-Thorp, WI) is third on the team in scoring, averaging 8.6 points per game. She led the team with 15 points in their last contest against UW-Stevens Point. Rachel Becker (Sr.-Gilmanton, WI) is tied for second in the conference in assists, averaging 4.29 a game. She is also second in the WIAC in assist-to-turnover ratio, averaging 1.34 assists per turnover. The Blugolds as a team are on top of the conference in assist-to-turnover ratio, averaging 0.84 assists per turnover. The Falcons are coming off a 50-47 victory over UW-Platteville on Saturday. The Falcons are led in scoring by Traci Reimann, who is averaging 14.2 points per game this season. She also leads the conference in rebounding, averaging 10.5 rebounds per game. The Falcons are on top of the conference when comes to 3-point shooting, as they are averaging over six 3-pointers a game. The Falcons have won three of the last four in the series, but the Blugolds own a 41-26 advantage in the all-time series. The action gets underway at 7 p.m. Wednesday night in Zorn Arena. - JR -
