WHITE BEAR LAKE'S CARTER TO ATTEND UW-EAU CLAIRE
EAU CLAIRE - Brittany Carter, a forward/center from White Bear Lake High School, will attend UW-Eau Claire and play basketball next fall, Blugold head coach Tonja Englund has announced.
The 5-11 Carter played for head coach Cameron Mahlum and was a four-year letterwinner for the Bears, who advanced to the Minnesota Girl's State Basketball Tournament in 2004. A team captain, Carter earned first team All-Suburban East Conference honors in 2004 in addition to receiving honorable mention recognition in 2003. Carter has led the Bears in rebounding the past two seasons.
A three-year letterwinner in track, Carter is a two-time honorable mention All-Conference high jumper in addition to competing in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relays. Carter was a member of the Bears' team that finished in fifth place at the True Team State Championships as a sophomore.
In the classroom Carter was a member of choir for two years and was a "B" honor roll student at White Bear Lake.
Carter will be joining a Blugold program that finished 21-6 in 2004. During coach Englund's four seasons at Eau Claire the Blugolds have compiled an overall record of 95-21 (a .819 winning percentage) going 50-14 (.781) in Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play during that stretch. The Blugolds won both the WIAC regular season and post-season tournament titles 2001 and 2003 earning automatic bids to the NCAA post-season tournament. The 2002-03 Blugold team posted a record of 32-2 advancing to the NCAA Division III Women's Final Four.
