Assistant Volleyball Coach - Val Siegenthaler
Siegenthaler enters her first season
as assistant volleyball coach of the Blugolds.
A native of Stillwater, Minnesota, Siegenthaler attended
UW-Eau Claire from 1992 to 1997 and graduated with a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Elementary Education and a minor
in Spanish. Following her time as an undergraduate, Siegenthaler
taught in the Bowler, Somerset and Colby school districts,
working in a number of different subjects, but most recently
focused on teaching English as a second language. Siegenthaler
recently came back to UWEC to get her Masters in Education
in Professional Development with a TESOL emphasis. She
received her Masters in 2006.
During her undergraduate years at UW-Eau Claire, Siegenthaler,
played on the Blugold volleyball team and was a middle-hitter.
Siegenthaler, who played as Val Junker, has the 16th most
career blocking assists (140) in school history. She also
holds season blocking records from 1995 and 1996. In 1996,
Siegenthaler was named the team’s Most Dedicated
Player and in 1995 she was honored with the Lisa Siegenthaler
Memorial Award. The 1996 team she played on also received
an AVCA Team Academic Award.
Siegenthaler brings in a variety of different coaching
experiences, having coached in both middle school and
high school settings. In 1994 and 1996, she helped out
at UWEC volleyball camps and co-coached a girl’s
team at the Eau Claire Air volleyball club. She has also
coached eighth grade, freshman, JV and varsity teams in
the Bowler, Somerset and Colby school districts.
Outside of coaching, Siegenthaler is a stay-at-home mother.
Siegenthaler and her husband, Scott, a financial aid counselor
at UWEC, reside in Chippewa Falls with their two sons
Jake and Ben.
