OSHKOSH’S STAMPFLI SHUTS DOWN AURORA
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year Ronessa Stampfli (17-3) allowed just two hits while striking out 16 as her UW-Oshkosh squad defeated Aurora University (Ill.) 5-0 today at the NCAA Division III Softball Regional Championship in Eau Claire.
The 14th-ranked Titans now face Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) foe No. 25 UW-Eau Claire, a team they lost to last year in the regionals.
Stampfli’s counterpart, Anna Snyder (22-4), allowed five runs – one of them earned. The other four runs came in the second after a two-out fielding error by the second baseman. Amie Heinzelman had a two-run triple in the frame.
The Titans added another run in the fifth as they outhit Aurora 5-to-2. Oshkosh’s Kayla Kodet was the only player with multiple hits on either side. She went 2 for 2 and scored twice while knocking in one.
Oshkosh plays Eau Claire at 6 p.m. tomorrow while Aurora faces North Central College (Ill.) at 2 p.m.
