TALBOT NAMED NSCAA ALL-AMERICAN
KANSAS CITY, Kan. – UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer defender Anna Talbot (Sr.-Apple Valley, Minn./Eastview) has been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-America Third Team, NSCAA officials announced. Talbot has already received honors as an NSCAA All-Central Region first team selection, in addition to being named the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s (WIAC) Player of the Year and to the All-WIAC women’s soccer team. Talbot helped anchor the Blugold defense that consistently shut down opponents this season. The Blugold defense allowed only 119 shots, 53 being on goal, which is an average of 5.4 shots per game. The defense also allowed only 12 goals the entire season, a 0.53 goals against average (GAA), which was the best in the conference and 14th in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III. Talbot also tallied two assists this season. Only three other Blugolds in program history have received NSCAA All-American honors. Becky Westbrock was the last Blugold to be selected. She was also selected as a third team defender last season. Kari Blasczyk and Diane Kelsch were the other two, with selections in 2000 and 1993, respectively, also to the third team.
