SOCCER TO PLAY TO TWO CONFERENCE AND ONE NON-CONFERENCE GAME
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – The UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer team will take on UW-Superior and UW-Platteville this week in two of their three final Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) matches of the season. Eau Claire 11-1-1 overall and 4-0-1 in the WIAC are in second in the conference behind UW-Stevens Point who is 5-1-0 in the WIAC. The Blugolds have won the WIAC the past two seasons and are in second place for the first time this season. The Blugolds are ranked third in the Women’s Central Region (d3kicks.com) and are ranked eight in nationally in Division III soccer (NSCAA/adidas). The Blugolds will take on last place UW-Superior, 0-5-0 in the WIAC on Wednesday at the Bollinger Fields in Eau Claire. The Blugolds have a home record of 4-1-1 this season, with their only loss coming to top-ranked Wheaton College (IL). Amy Smith (Jr.- Bloomington, MN/Thomas Jefferson) leads the Blugolds in scoring and assists with nine goals and seven assists. Smith has a team high 36 shots on net. Allie Rivard (Jr.- Plymouth, MN/Wayzata) has logged 979:54 for the Blugolds. Rivard has 28 saves and has allowed four goals. Rivard has six wins and four shut-outs on the season. On Saturday the Blugolds will play UW-Platteville at the Bollinger Fields. The game is set to start at 2:00 p.m. St. Thomas University (MN) will travel to Eau Claire on Sunday for Senior Day. The coaches and team will honor the Blugold seniors Jana Huebner (Sr.- Mendota Heights, MN/St. Croix Lutheran), Abby Ofstedahl (Sr.- Apple Valley, MN/Eastview), Kristi Olson (Sr.- Minnetonka, MN), Anna Talbot (Sr.- Apple Valley, MN/Eastview), and Liz Weirick (Sr.- Kenosha, WI/Tremper). Wednesday’s conference match-up against UW-Superior at the Bollinger Fields is set to start at 4:00 p.m. Saturday’s WIAC game against UW-Platteville in Eau Claire is set to start at 2:00 p.m. and Sunday’s non-conference match against St. Thomas (Senior Day) will start at 2:00 p.m. - KD -
