BLUGOLDS TO HOST NCAA SOCCER PLAYOFFS
UW-Eau Claire will be the host site for a four-team first and second round NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament Saturday and Sunday. The tournament will be played on the university’s Bollinger Fields The NCAA announced the field of 60 teams and the host sites for the Division III soccer championships early today. The Blugolds (21-2) earned a spot in the tournament as the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference’s automatic qualifier after winning the conference tournament Saturday. The Blugolds will open against Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference champion Concordia-Moorhead (12-5-3) which won the MIAC regular season title and its tournament championship in a shootout with Carleton. The other two participants will be Augustana, Illinois (14-2-3) and Grinnell College, Iowa (15-2-1). The Blugolds will open the tournament at 11 a.m. Saturday against Concordia with Augustana and Grinnell to face each other at 2 p.m. The second round game is slated for 1 p.m. Sunday. - TP -
