MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD HOST BLUGOLD OPEN
EAU CLAIRE – The UW-Eau Claire men’s 4 x 100-meter relay team won first place as the Blugolds hosted the Blugold Open here today at the Simpson Track Complex. The 4 x 100-meter relay took top honors with a time of 42.30 seconds with nine other teams competing in the field. The 4 x 400-meter relay finished second clocking in at 3:20.01. NCAA Division II UM-Duluth won the event finishing the race in 3:19.63. The Blugolds placed second and third in the 800-meter run led by Joseph Veriga (Sr.-Cudahy) who finished the race in 1:57.13. Wes Fischer (So.-Rosemount, MN) finished behind Veriga with a time of 1:58.13. In the field events Ryan Brohmer (Sr.-La Crosse/Logan) placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 179-7. Nick Desotelle (So.-Weston/D.C. Everest) finished second in the pole vault clearing 14-5.5. Kirk Schmidt (Fr.-Athens) placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 44-4.25. In the sprints Nick Kropp (Fr.-Green Bay/Preble) finished third in both the 100 and 200-meter dashes clocking in at 11.08 and 22.61 seconds, respectively. Chris Kupfer (So.-Germantown) placed third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.14 seconds. Adam Wolfe (Jr.-Marshfield) led the distance events with a third place finish in the 1,500-meter run crossing the finish line in 4:03.61. Kevin Hall (So.-Green Bay/Preble) placed third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 15:10.51. Up next the Blugolds will travel to Northfield, Minnesota to compete in the Carleton Relays on Saturday, April 21. Competition is scheduled to begin at 12:00 P.M. Complete Results
