BLUGOLDS TO HOST ANNUAL OUTDOOR TRACK MEET
As many as nine men’s teams and eight women’s teams may be represented in the UW-Eau Claire Outdoor Open track and field meet Saturday. The meet will get underway with field events at 11 a.m. and running events at noon on the Simpson Field track behind the McPhee Phy Ed Center on the university’s upper campus. The University of Minnesota will have some representatives in the men’s competition as the Gophers send their track athletes to at least four meets throughout the Midwest. Minnesota-Duluth will have men’s and women’s teams in the meet. Winona State is another Division II team that will be participating in the women’s competition. Other schools with both men’s and women’s teams in the meet will be UW-River Falls, UW-Superior, Bethel College, St. Mary’s University and the College of St. Scholastica. UW-La Crosse will have women’s participants and UW-Stout just men’s participants. No team scoring will be kept for the meet. The field events will include the hammer throw, shot put, javelin, triple jump, long jump, high jump, pole vault and discus. The running events, which will operate on a rolling schedule, will include the 10,000-meter run, sprint hurdles, 100-meter dash, 4x100 relay, 3,000-meter steeplechase, 1500, 400, 800, 400 hurdles, 200, 5,000-meter run and 4x400 relay.
