SCHUNA DOMINANT AT WIAC QUALIFIER
LA CROSSE - UW-Eau Claire men's track and field member John Schuna (Jr.-Hudson) set a new Eau Claire outdoor shot put record and also took first place in the discus throw as the Blugolds competed at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Qualifier.
Schuna won the shot put with a school record throw of 58-1 ¼ (17.71 meters), breaking his own record of 57-7 (17.55m) that he set on April 26, 2002. His throw was nearly five feet further than the second place throw.
Schuna also took first place in the discus throw with a distance of 157-09 (48.09m). The throw provisionally qualifies him for national competition.

Chris King (Jr.-Chippewa Falls) earned a fourth-place finish in the hammer throw with a distance of 180-03 (54.95m). The throw is good for a provisional qualification to nationals.
Andy Steuernagel (Sr.-Tomohawk) also brought home a fourth-place finish, doing so in the javelin throw with a distance of 156-07 (47.72), also good for a provisional qualification to nationals.
