MEN'S TRACK TAKES SECOND AT PHIL ESTEN CHALLENGE
LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's track and field team took second place with 75 points at the Phil Esten Challenge held today at Veteran's Memorial Stadium.
Host UW-La Crosse took first with a team score of 214 while UW-Stout claimed third with 63.
John Schuna (Jr.-Hudson) took first place in the shot put competition with a throw of 56-8 ¾ (17.29 meters). The throw is an automatic qualification to national competition. Schuna also took second in the discuss, with a throw of 152-02 (46.38m).
Ethan Kreul (Jr.-Poynette) earned the only other Blugold first-place finish on the day with a win in the 5,000 meter run. He won the event in a time of 15:38.24.
The Blugolds will be in action on Saturday, April 17 when they host the UWEC Open at Simpson Field.
