MEN'S TENNIS COMPETES AT CARLETON FALL INVITE
NORTHFIELD, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team grabbed one first place finish and three second place finishes as they competed in the Carleton Fall Invitational on Saturday at Bell Field and the Arboretum Courts.
Chris Slagle (Jr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) claimed the first place finish for the Blugolds in the No. 4 singles spot. Slagle advanced with a 7-5, 6-4 victory in the semifinals and won in the finals in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
Bob Hartman (So.-McFarland) was also successful in the singles action, claiming second place in the No. 3 singles spot with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the semifinals. Hartman lost a close match in the finals to earn second place.
Aaron Nordenskjold (Fr.-Red Wing, MN) also claimed second place in the singles tournament with a good showing in the No. 5 singles spot. The Blugold newcomer 5-7, 6-0, 10-6 victory to advance to the finals where he lost in straight sets.
Chris Baga (Fr.-Duluth, MN/Marshal College Prep.) was the third Blugold to claim second place in singles. Baga took second in the No. 6 singles spot with a straight set semifinals victory.
Eau Claire will be in action next weekend at the ITA Invitational.
