BAGA/PETERSON TAKE THIRD IN NO. 3 DOUBLES AT NCTA TOURNEY

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis duo of Chris Baga (Fr.-Duluth, MN/Marshall College Prep) and Jeff Peterson (Fr.-Edina, MN) claimed third place in the No. 3 doubles competition here today at the Northern Collegiate Tennis Association Tournament.

The tandem defeated UM-Morris' combo 8-3 in the first round before falling to Josh Hardel and Joel Vedder of UW-Oshkosh 8-6 in the second round. Baga and Peterson responded with a win over St. Scholastica's Jon Haycraft and Chris Ho 8-5 in the third place match.

The No. 1 Eau Claire duo of Matt Widder (Sr.-Sheboygan Falls) and Adam Arians (Sr.-Mankato, MN/Loyola) claimed fifth place in the No. 1 bracket. The pair fell in the first round 8-6 but topped St. Scholastica's Joe Blommel and Kyle Hawley 8-2 in the fifth place match.

The singles competition of the event will take place tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m.
