MEN'S TENNIS DEFEATS BETHEL, FALLS TO GUSTAVUS

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's tennis team defeated Bethel College 6-3 Friday but fell to third-ranked Gustavus Adolphus 9-0 Saturday.

The top three singles players all won against Bethel with number one singles player Matt Widder (Sr.-Sheboygan Falls) winning 7-5, 6-1. Chris Slagle (Jr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) and Chris Baga (Fr.-Duluth, MN/Marshal College Prep) went three sets but eventually lost at four and six singles respectively.

The tandems of Ty Litscher (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) and Aaron Nordenskjold (Fr.-Red Wing, MN) and Slagle and Erik Culver (Fr.-La Crosse/Logan) both won convincingly 8-1 at two and three doubles.

The third-ranked Golden Gusties were too much for the Blugolds winning all matches in straight sets. Eau Claire's record moves to 2-2 following the weekend.

The Blugolds will be in action next when they travel to Decorah, Iowa to compete in the Luther Invite Friday and Saturday.
