MEN SWIMMERS AND DIVERS TAKE FOURTH AT WIAC RELAYS

LA CROSSE - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming and diving team scored an even 60 points en rout to a fourth-place finish at the 2003 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Relays held here today in Mitchell Hall.

UW-Stevens Point claimed first place at the relays with 144 points while host UW-La Crosse finished second with 138 points. UW-Oshkosh took third with a score of 76 followed by Eau Claire, Whitewater, and River Falls.

The Blugolds got just one top three finish in the meet, coming from the 400-yard freestyle relay team of Matt Schuebel (Jr.-Racine/Horlick), Nick Peterson (Fr.-Lake Elmo, MN), Peter Shafe (Fr.-Burlington), and Steve Fisher (Waunakee). The team claimed the third-place finish with a time of 3:24.83 in the event.

The Blugolds will be back in action this Tuesday when they host the Eagles from La Crosse for a 6:00 p.m. dual meet at the McPhee Physical Education Center.
