MEN SWIMMERS COMPETE AT MAVERICK PENTATHLON
MANKATO, Minn. - The UW-Eau Claire men's swimming team competed in the Maverick Pentathlon held here today at the Otto Arena on the Minnesota State-Mankato University campus.
Pete Shafe (Fr.-Burlington) led the swimmers as he placed in the top five in all five events. Shafe took second in the 50-yd breaststroke, 100-yard individual medley, 50-yard backstroke and 50-yard butterfly while taking fifth in the 50-yard freestyle.
Steve Fisher (Jr.-Shoresview, MN/Moundsview) had a strong day as well placing in the top five in four of five events. Fisher took first in the 50-yard butterfly, second in the 50-yard freestyle and fourth in both the 100-yard IM and the 50-yard backstroke.
Matt Schuebel (Jr.-Racine/Horlick) as he placed in the top five in three events. Schuebel took first in the 50-yard freestyle and third in both the 100-yard IM and 50-yard backstroke.
Eau Claire will be in action next when they host the Midwest Coed Relay Meet Saturday. The meet is scheduled to begin at noon at the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center.
