MEN’S GOLF SELECTED TO COMPETE AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
INDIANAPOLIS – The UW-Eau Claire men’s golf team has been selected to compete at the 2007 NCAA Division III Men’s Golf Championships. The championships will be held May 15-18, at Hawthorns Golf and Country Club and Prairie View Golf Club, in Fishers and Carmel, Indiana. The championships will be co-hosted by Anderson University and the Hamilton County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The Blugolds, currently ranked 14th in the latest Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Division III national poll, will enter the Championships winning two of its last three meets including this past weekend’s St. Olaf/Carleton Invitational. At the Invitational the Blugolds defeated two nationally-ranked teams in fifth-ranked St. John’s (MN) and 22nd-ranked Gustavus Adolphus (MN). A total of 180 participants will compete at the 2007 championships. Twenty-four conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the championships. Eight teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions, and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final three berths were reserved for Pool C, which are institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams. The top five individuals are selected from the remaining players who have not qualified with a team. NCAA Selection Release
