MEN’S GOLF TAKES TOP TWO SPOTS IN BORDER BATTLE
MENOMONIE – The UW-Eau Claire men’s golf teams claimed top honors and the runner-up slot with scores of 286 and 290 while Peter Wendt (Jr.-Lake Mills) won individual honors at the Border Battle on the Chippewa Valley Golf Course, hosted by UW-Stout. The A squad shot a +2 286 while the B team shot a +6 290. Augsburg College (MN) A had a 295 day for third while St. Thomas (MN) took the No. 4 and No. 5 slots. The fourth-place team had a 300 while the other squad managed a 302 tally. Wendt shot a -4 67 on the par-71 course that measured 6,327 yards. There were 42 participants. Tyler Leis (Sr.-Reedsburg) was right behind him with a 69 as he tied for second. Mason Milner (Jr.-Onalaska) had a 73-stroke day for an 11th-place tie. Derek Bauer (Jr.-Inver Grove Heights, MN/Eagan) tied for 24th on 77 strokes. Robert Norris (Sr.-St. Paul, MN/Cretin-Derham Hall) was the best B team golfer, shooting 71 and tying for fifth. Alex Kroeger (So.-Onalaska) tied for seventh on a 72 effort. Ryan Brockhaus (Sr.-Mayville) and his 73 tally tied for 11th while Mike Greer (Sr.-Vadnais Heights, MN/White Bear Lake) collected 74 strokes to tie for 14th. The team is back in action on Saturday when it heads to Appleton for the Lawrence Viking Invite. Final Results - PH -
