MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY ANNOUNCES TEAM AWARD WINNERS

EAU CLAIRE, Wisc. – UW-Eau Claire men’s cross country coach, Dan Schwamberger, announced the men’s cross country team award winners yesterday for the 2007 season.

The Most Valuable Runner went to Chris Wirtz (So.-Weston, WI/DC Everest). Wirtz finished every race first for the Blugolds this season, except the Drews/Neubauer Invite and Roy Griak Invite where he placed second for the Blugolds. Wirtz placed 63rd at the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional and placed 29th in the WIAC Championships.

The Most Valuable Freshmen Award went to Kevin Weber (Fr.-Mounds View, MN/Irondale). Weber placed sixth for the Blugolds at the Roy Griak Invite, eighth for the Blugolds at the St. Olaf Invite and ninth in the WIAC Championships and Drews/Neubauer Invite.

The Blugold Award recipient for 2007 is Kevin Hall (Jr.-Green Bay, WI/Preble). The Blugold Award is presented to “an all-around committed scholar-athlete and teammate.”

The Blugolds finished the season with an overall record was 73-75-1. They also finished sixth at the WIAC Championships and 16th at the Midwest Regional.
