305 BLUGOLDS RECEIVE CONFERENCE HONOR

MADISON – The Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has named 305 UW-Eau Claire athletes to its 2006-07 Scholastic Honor Roll, marking a school record for the award.

To receive the honor, an athlete must have a 3.0 (B) or better GPA and complete a minimum of 24 credits for the academic year.

This year, 133 men and 172 women were named for the award, representing all 22 sports. In addition to the new recipients, 21 were named for the fourth time, 48 for the third time and 68 for the second time.

The four-time winners are Kristin Seeger (Cross Country-Germantown, WI/Wisconsin Lutheran), Brad Alexjun (Football-Green Bay, WI/Ashwaubenon), Cole Stark (Golf-Eau Claire, WI/Memorial), Ashley Brett (Gymnastics-Forest Lake, MN), Andi Rude (Gymnastics-Onalaska, WI), Brooks Lockwood (Hockey-Hudson, WI), Allie Campbell (Hockey-Plymouth, MN/Wayzata), Martina Korinek (Hockey-White Bear Lake, MN), Amber Stevenson (Hockey-Eagan, MN), Laura Suppes (Hockey-Roseville, MN), Aimee Bretl (Soccer-Port Washington, WI), Shannon Barone (Softball-De Pere, WI), Amber Haack (Softball-Madison, WI/LaFollette), Steph Salter (Softball-Schofield, WI/D.C. Everest), Nick Peterson (Swimming-Lake Elmo, MN/North St. Paul), Alissa Condra (Swimming-Rhinelander, WI), Melissa Meier (Swimming-Lino Lakes, MN/Centennial), Laura Geissler (Tennis-Coon Rapids, MN), Steph Barnes (Track & Field-Sauk City, WI/Sauk Prairie), Shalene Huth (Track & Field-Appleton, WI/West) and Shanna Berger (Volleyball-Baldwin, WI/Baldwin-Woodville).

For the 2006-07 academic year, Blugold athletes compiled an overall GPA of 3.09, a school record.  This is the sixth consecutive year the department has achieved a 3.0 or better GPA.
