TALBOT, TIERI NAMED WIAC ATHLETES OF THE WEEK
MADISON - UW-Eau Claire soccer defender Anna Talbot (So.-Apple Valley, MN/Eastview) and football safety Brent Tieri (Sr.-Rockford, MN) have been named Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Athletes of the Week, it was announced today by conference sports information director Matt Stanek. Talbot helped UW-Eau Claire record its league-leading 12th shutout of the season with a 3-0 victory over Hamline (MN) on October 29. She won every 50/50 ball that came into her area of the field and helped limit the Pipers to just six shots in the game. The 12 shutouts this year for the Blugolds ties a school single-season record. Tieri recorded a pair of interceptions in UW-Eau Claire's 17-3 victory over UW-Stevens Point on October 29. His first interception came on the first drive of the game and he returned it 21 yards to the Pointers' 47-yard line. Tieri snagged his second interception at the end of the first quarter and set up the first Blugold score of the game. He was also credited with six solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the contest.
