GYMNASTS COMPETE AT NCGA NATIONALS
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team tied the school record for highest team score with a 185.525 en route to an eighth place finish in national competition of the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association held today.
UW-La Crosse won the national title for the fourth consecutive year with a team score of 191.275. Ithaca College (NY) took second with a mark of 189.800 while SUNY-Brockport rounded out the top three with a score of 189.350.
Alison Eagles (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) set a new school record in the floor competition, tying for 11th in the event with a score of 9.825. She finished in eighth place in the all-around with a score of 37.575. She qualified for tomorrow's individual competition in both events. Eagles also tied for 14th in the vault with a score of 9.500 and for 15th in the bars with a score of 9.400.
Lynn Morris (So.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) qualified for tomorrow's competition in three events. She took fifth place in the bars and ninth place on the balance beam with scores of 9.525 while also qualifying in the all-around with a mark of 37.200, claiming 11th place.
Jenni Wick (So.-Sartell, MN) performed well on the balance beam, tying for 14th place with a score of 9.450.
At tomorrow's individual competition, the top six performers will earn All-American status with the exception of the all-around, which will take the top 10 performers as All-Americans.
The individual competition will begin at 5:30 p.m.
