GYMNASTICS TAKES SECOND AT JOHN ZUERLEIN INVITE
MENOMONIE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team took second out of five teams at the John Zuerlein Invitational held here tonight at UW-Stout's Johnson Fieldhouse.
Lynn Morris (So.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) led the Blugolds with a first place finish in the all-around competition with a score of 37.100. Morris won the balance beam event with a career-best 9.625 and took second in the vault with a 9.400.
Alison Eagles (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) took fourth in the all-around competition with a score of 36.125. Eagles took first place in the vault with a score of 9.550 and seventh on the balance beam with a 9.125.
The Blugolds also received top ten finishes from Chelsea Romportl (Fr.-Rice Lake) and Ashley Nelson (Sr.-Darwin, MN/Litchfield) in the vault, Kelly Settle (Sr.-Bemidji, MN) and Chelsey Brickweg (So.-Alexandria, MN/Jefferson) in the balance beam and Romportl in the uneven bars.
UW-La Crosse took first place with a score of 184.200 with Eau Claire second at 180.025.
The Blugolds will be in action next when they travel to La Crosse Friday to compete in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. The meet is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m.
