GYMNASTS TAKE SECOND AT HOME INVITE

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team took second place out of five teams with a score of 177.150, falling short of Gustavus Adolphus who took first place here today at the UWEC Ultimate Flight Invitational held at the McPhee Physical Education Center.

The Golden Gusties took first with a score of 181.000 while UW-Oshkosh took third place. UW-Whitewater and UW-Stout finished in fourth and fifth place respectively.

Lynn Morris (So.-Monticello, IN/Twin Lakes) was the top all-around finisher for the Blugolds, taking second with an overall score of 36.600. Morris took second in two separate events, doing so on the uneven bars with a score of 9.250 and the balance beam with a score of 9.375.

Ashley Brett (Fr.-Forest Lake, MN) was the only Blugold to claim first place in an event, winning the floor exercise with a mark of 9.450.

Alison Eagles (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) finished in the top 11 in all four events which led her to a fourth place finish in the all-around with a score of 35.600.

Amanda Parker of Gustavus was the big winner at the event, taking first place in the all-around with a score of 37.225. Parker earned the high score by taking first place on both the bars and beam while claiming third place on the vault and sixth place in the floor exercise.

Ann Kingsnorth of UW-Whitewater took home third place in the all-around with a score of 35.700.

The Blugolds will return to action next Friday when they travel to La Crosse to compete in the Gershon Invitation. Competition is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.
