GYMNASTS REWRITE RECORD BOOK AT ROCKY MOUNTAIN OPEN

COLORADO SPRINGS, Col. - The UW-Eau Claire gymnastics team had a school record score of 185.525 in competing amongst four Division I teams here today at the Rocky Mountain Open held on the United States Air Force Academy campus.

Alison Eagles (Jr.-Shoreview, MN/Mounds View) had a strong day setting a Blugold-record 37.875 and taking eighth overall in the all-around competition. Eagles also set Blugold records in both the uneven bars at 9.450 and the vault at 9.575.

Ashley Brett (Fr.-Forest Lake, MN) had the strongest performance on the floor exercise among the Blugolds scoring a school-record 9.700 to earn tenth overall. Kelly Settle (Sr.-Bemidji, MN) put forth a strong effort on the balance beam also scoring a school-record 9.750 to tie for sixth in the event.

San Jose State took first place with a score of 193.875 with Utah State coming in second at 192.800. The Air Force Academy took third with a score of 191.650 with Texas Women's University coming in fourth at 191.325. Eau Claire finished in fifth with a score of 185.525.

The Blugolds will be in action next when they host the UWEC Invitational Saturday at the McPhee Phy. Ed. Center. The invite is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
