| Assistant Football Coach - Joel Hornby
Joel Hornby enters his first season as an assistant coach for the Blugolds. Hornby will be responsible for coaching the defensive line.
Prior to Eau Claire Hornby was a high school biology teacher and junior high football coach in the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau school district. Hornby taught anatomy and physiology, advanced placement biology and introduction to biology.
During his playing career Hornby received several academic and athletic honors including being a GTE first team Academic All-American in 1997, a NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship Recipient in 1998 and the Most Valuable Defensive Player for the Russelsheim (Germany) Razorbacks in 1998.
Professionally Hornby played for the Russelsheim Razorbacks in the German Football League in 1998 and 2000. Collegiately Hornby was an offensive and defensive lineman for UW-Stevens Point from 1995-1998. Hornby played three years of varsity football at Richland Center High School from 1989-91.
Hornby received his bachelor’s degree in biology from UW-Stevens Point in 1998 and a master’s in education from UW-La Crosse in 2002. Hornby is married to wife Tammy, who is a licensed social worker. They have two daughters, Cassie and Rebecca.
