FREDRICKON NAMED TO D3FOOTBALL.COM TEAM OF THE WEEK

EAU CLAIRE - UW-Eau Claire quarterback Nels Fredrickson (Jr.-Burnsville, MN) has been named to the D3football.com Team of the Week for games on October 10-11, it was recently announced by "the best source for Division III football information."

Fredrickson completed 26-of-40 passes for 337 yards and two touchdowns in an upset victory over UW-La Crosse October 11 at Carson Park. The Eagles were ranked third in the D3football.com top 25 poll entering the contest. Fredrickson also rushed for 31 yards in the victory.

With the win the Blugolds are in a first place tie with Whitewater in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) standings.

The game featured the third-ranked opponent the Blugolds had faced this year. The Blugolds lost to second-ranked St. John's (MN) 24-10 and fell to 12th-ranked Bethel (MN) 45-42.

The victory marked the second win in the last two meetings for the Blugolds, who have not won two out of three over the Eagles since the 1981-83 seasons. Fredrickson has been the starting quarterback in both Eau Claire victories, both at Carson Park. In 2001 Fredrickson made his first collegiate start in place of injured quarterback Brian Rasmussen and led the Blugolds to a 10-7 win. Fredrickson scored the only Blugold touchdown of the day, a seven-yard touchdown run in the first quarter which gave Eau Claire a 7-0 lead.
