BARNES EARNS ALL-AMERICA STATUS AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

OSHKOSH – UW-Eau Claire pole vaulter Steph Barnes (Sr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) closed out her collegiate career with her third-straight All-American performance in the pole vault here today at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by UW-Oshkosh at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium.

Barnes finished fourth in the pole vault for the second consecutive year clearing a height of 12-5.5. Barnes completed her career as a three-time outdoor All-American with two fourth-place finishes in 2007 and 2006 in addition to earning a national championship in 2005.

Jessica Owens (So.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) just missed out on her second All-American finish in as many years placing fourth with a height of 5-4.5. The top eight finishers receive All-American honors in each event.

Liz Kooistra (So.-Lakeville, MN) competed in the 400-meter dash trials finishing sixth in her heat with a time of 59.07 seconds and did not qualify to compete in tomorrow’s finals.
