LUTZ FINISHES 11TH AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS
OSHKOSH – UW-Eau Claire distance runner Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) finished 11th out of 18 runners in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted by UW-Oshkosh here today at J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. Lutz finished the race in a time of 36:47.64. Shauneen Garrahan of Amherst (MA) won the event with a facility record time of 34:49.19. Lutz was the only Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) competitor in the race. Paula Crossfield (Sr.-Madison/East) was unable to qualify for the finals in the discus as she placed eighth in her flight with a throw of 123-4. Shara Guidry of St. Thomas (MN) won the event with a toss of 145-11. Three past All-Americans will compete tomorrow for the Blugolds at the NCAA Championships. Steph Barnes (Sr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) will compete in the pole vault, Jessica Owens (So.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) will compete in the high jump and Liz Kooistra (So.-Lakeville, MN) will compete in the 400-meter trials.
