WOMEN’S TRACK WINS SEVEN EVENTS AT POINTER QUALIFIER
STEVENS POINT, WI – The UW-Eau Claire women’s track and field team won seven of 18 events including one NCAA automatic and four provisional qualifying efforts as the Blugolds competed at the Pointer Qualifier hosted by UW-Stevens Point here today at the Multi-Activity Center in the Health Enhancement Center. Steph Barnes (Sr.-Sauk City/Sauk Prairie) won the pole vault with an NCAA automatic qualifying height of 12-4.5 feet. Jessica Owens (So.-Elm Grove/Brookfield East) won the high jump with a season-best and provisional qualifying mark of 5-6. Liz Faller (Sr.-Marinette) won the 55-meter hurdles with a provisional time of 8.35 seconds. Beth Lutz (So.-Eau Claire/Memorial) won the 5,000-meter run with a provisional qualifying time of 17:21.42. Paula Crossfield (Sr.-Madison/East) finished fifth in the weight throw with a provisional qualifying toss of 49-7. Shalene Huth (Sr.-Appleton/West) won the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.49 seconds. Hannah Humbach (Fr.-Madison/Abundant Life) won the 800-meter dash in 2:19.64. In the mile run the Blugolds finished 1-2 led by Mary Palmer (So.-Anoka, MN) finishing in 5:27.95. Claudia Borlee (Jr.-Green Bay/Preble) finished behind Palmer clocking in at 5:29.82. The Blugolds will conclude the 2007 indoor season at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, Indiana. Competition will begin Friday, March 9 and conclude Saturday, March 10. Final Results
