WOMEN CLAIM BLUGOLD OPEN WHILE MEN FINISH SECOND

EAU CLAIRE - The UW-Eau Claire men's and women's track teams hosted the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open today where the Blugold women finished in first place out of three teams while the men finished second out of four places here at the McPhee Physical Education Center.

Jennifer Stafslein (So-Onalaska/West Salem) took home three first place finishes for the women winning the 55 meter hurdles, the long jump and the triple jump. Jane Ovanin (So-Amherst) won first place in the 5,000 meter run while Danielle Brabender (So-Cottage Grove/Monona Grove) won the high jump.

John Schuna (So-Hudson) won two events for the men's team winning the shot put and the weight throw. Ethan Kreul (So-Poynette) finished first in the 3,000 meter run while Kurt Heilman (Sr-Kenall/Royall) won the high jump for the Blugolds.

The women Blugolds will next be in action Friday, January 31 for the Eastbay Pentathalon in Stevens Point while the men will resume action Saturday, February 1 for the Eastbay Invite in Stevens Point.
